Archie Frank Lafayette, 89, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at his home. He was born on August 26, 1927, the son of Frank Lafayette and Mary (Coleman) Lafayette.
Archie worked on the railroad in his younger years and eventually took up professional painting of houses. Archie is survived by his son, David Smith; daughter, Mary White; step-son, Robert Taylor; three step-daughters, Linda Gardenhire, Evelyn Porter, and Rose Miller; three Sisters, Mary A. Davis, Louise Franklin, and Janet Squaire; special friend, Geneva Porter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daughter, Catherine Daniels, Sisters, Rosie Lee Emery, Lavinia Coats, Willie Lee Coats, and Lilly belle Cleveland, Brothers, Joel Lafayette, Eddie Lafayette, William Lafayette, and Johnnie Lafayette.
Archie enjoyed being outdoors; hunting and fishing were some of his favorite things to do. He also loved music and playing the blues on his guitar. He loved his family and he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
