Homer Archie Gunn Jr., 87, of Delton, MI, went to be with Lord, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born July 5, 1924 the son of Homer Archie Gunn Sr. and Gruzella Frances (Evans) Gunn.
Homer served in the US Army during WWII. He was employed at Clark Equipment for over 32 years until retiring in 1980. He also farmed for many years.
Homer is survived by Wife of 66 Years: Marjorie L. (Whitmore) Gunn of Delton, MI; Daughter: Lorraine (Lee Johnson) Cummings of Lovettsville, VA; Sons: Richard (Terry Fuller-Kipp) Gunn of Battle Creek, MI and Duane (Tara) Gunn of Battle Creek, MI; 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren; Sister: May Lou Garrison of Canton, OH. He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Brother: Joseph Gunn and Sister: Elsie Drake.
Homer was one of the founders of the little league baseball in Delton and was a baseball coach. He built a baseball diamond on his land. He loved feeding birds, the outdoors and cutting wood. He was a Life Member of the DAV Post #7 and American Legion Post #45.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 1:00 P.M with Pastor Keith Hillman officiating.
Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
