Obituary for Trummy Earl Williams

Trummy Earl Williams, 63, of Battle Creek, Michigan, transitioned to his eternal home on Friday morning, September 7, 2018 at home after a long illness. He was born in Detroit, MI, on June 7, 1955, the son of Earnest and Elizabeth (Sharp) Williams.
He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1974. In November of 1974 Trummy enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Lee, Virginia. From 1976-1978 Trummy served for the United States Army 142nd Military Police Company in Yung, San, Seoul Korea. Trummy was honorably discharged from the United States Army and returned home to work with the BCPD for a short period of time. After 35 years of dedicated service to the Government of the United States of America, Sgt. Williams retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs on Dec. 31, 2010. Trummy was very proud to hold the position of VA Police Sergeant and was loved by many fellow employees.
On Oct. 5, 1982, Trummy married the love of his life, Debora Jackson. Trummy and Debbie enjoyed spending time together riding Harleys, watching sports, fishing, playing cards, chess, scrabble, and going to festivals, especially blues concerts. He loved spending time with his grandkids and they cherish their memories of their "Papa."
Trummy is survived by his Wife, Debbie and their children, Kevin Jackson of Battle Creek and Keith Jackson of Richmond, IN; and five Grandchildren, Kailey, Kevin, KaNiya, Kenneth, and Kapono; four Sisters, Iver (Harold) Bonds, Bloyce E. Parker, Monica Williams, Roslyn Upton; Brother, Sammie (Emily) Patterson and his Aunt, Rosie L. Nance. Special friends, Jimmie Gipson, Molly LaBelle, Marvin Cantrell, Raspberry Weaver, and Anthony Buckner. He was preceded in death by his parents, an aunt, Addie Lois Sharp, and an uncle, James Sharp.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday September 14, 2018, from 9:30 am to 10:00 am followed immediately by a funeral service at 10:00 am with Rev. Malcolm Satterfield officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
