Arlington "Butch" Richard Shade, 63, of Battle Creek, MI, went to be with the Lord, Friday, September 16, 2011 at University of Michigan Health Systems in Ann Arbor Michigan. He was born January 6, 1948 the son of Ellis Alfred Field and Betty Jane (Peterson) Field.
Butch served in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1966 to 1970 and then in the National Guard until 1978. He then served at the Battle Creek VA Hospital from 1978 until retiring in 2009.
Butch is survived by Wife of 25 Years: Gayle Shade; Daughters: Dawn Reed and Tonia (Jeff) Oliver; 5 Grandchildren: Ashley, Brianna, Cassie, Tyler and Corey who called their grandpa “Paky”.; Brother: David (Mary) Grimm; Sisters: Darlene Shade and Regina (Harold) Newsum and several nieces and nephews whom he loved so dear.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, 1 Granddaughter: Danielle and Brother: Bobby Grimm.
Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, football, carpentry, construction and working with his father. He was an active member of the Level Park Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor James Beavers of Level Park Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Level Park Baptist Church.
