Obituary for Barbara Jean Root
Barbara J. Root, 75, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020. She was born on September 6, 1944, the daughter of the late Homer Louis Erway and Arabelle June (Bivens) Erway. She worked at the Federal Center from the age of 19 until her retirement. Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and especially her grandchildren. She liked to dance, play bingo, going to horse shows and going out to dinner.
Barbara is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Nick) Reynolds and Shanan (Tom) Walker; two son, Shawn Root and Raymond Root, III; seven grandchildren, Teralee Wood, Alysa Martineau, Gunner Martineau, Brenden Small, Brady Walker, Tyler Walker and Jaykob Root; sister, Beverly (Jerry) Emswiler; two brothers, Parker (Chris) Erway and Chuck (Linda) Erway. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Smith.
In accordance with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place and the memorial service will be held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation, at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be made to: Huntington's Society of America.
