Obituary for Barbara June Sanford (Harker)
Barbara June Sanford, 96, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born on June 24, 1925, the daughter of Chester Edgar Harker and Dora Lovena (Yawkey) Newsom.
Barbara was a 1944 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. She was employed at Lakeview Card and Gift Shop, Battle Creek Country Club and the Battle Creek Sanitarium. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 54 Auxiliary. She was active in Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 33 and Post School PTA.
Barbara is survived by her Son, Michael Sanford; Granddaughter, Nicole (Scott) Taylor; Great Granddaughter, Alexis (Cody) Whitfield; Great Grandson, Jayden Taylor and Great Great Grandson, Carter Whitfield. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Harold Sanford, Son, Thomas Sanford, Brother, Richard Harker and Sister, Jewel Daniels.
Barbara enjoyed playing Bingo, watching the Detroit Tigers and shopping. She was very talented in crocheting, and liked to make things for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children when they were young. She will truly be missed by her family, and all those that knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Friday September 3, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service immediately following starting at 12:00 pm (noon).
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
