Obituary for Betty J Davis

Mrs. Betty J. (Wideman) Davis, 81, of Battle Creek, passed away, Feb 12, 2011, at Battle Creek Health System. She was born Aug 25, 1929 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL to Wilhelmena Wideman and Thomas Ford.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and then attended Nursing Registration classes at Leila Hospital. She became a Nursing Services Supervisor at Fort Custer State Home and was later employed as an interviewer at the State of Michigan Department of Employment Services (MESC). She was a member of the Battle Creek Chapter of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories, Husband: Dock Davis, Jr. of Battle Creek, MI; Daughters: Joyce Davis and Denise Davis of Battle Creek, MI and Patricia Charlotten (Davis) of Chicago IL; Son: Dock (April) Davis III of Battle Creek, MI; Sister: Shirley Blackamore of Battle Creek, MI, Granddaughters: Annchele Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Markeya (Cortez) Washington of Battle Creek, MI and Nina Charlotten of Chicago, IL; Grandsons: Dock (Delanea) Davis IV of Portage, MI, Javon Wade, Draven Davis and Donovan Davis all of Battle Creek, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daughter: Janet Davis and Sister: Wilhelmena Harris.
The family will be receiving friends at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road on Friday, Feb 18, 2011 after 11:30 AM with a funeral service at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Battle Creek Chapter of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc.
