Obituary for Brenda Joyce Minter
Brenda Joyce Minter went to meet her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Brenda was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church and community. She was born on March 11, 1961, the daughter of Meredith and Dorothy Minter.
Brenda was a previous member of Mt. Zion AME Church in Battle Creek, MI, and current member of Vernon Chapel AME Church in Flint, MI. She was an active member of the Battle Creek Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, NAACP and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She also served on the Battle Creek Community Foundation and Summit Pointe boards. After 36 years of dedicated service, Brenda retired from the Kellogg Company.
Brenda enjoyed reading, traveling with her family, shopping (especially for purses), listening to many genres of music and watching old black and white movies. Her family will always remember her as the most generous person they had ever met. She never met a stranger and would make sure that others were taken care of before herself. She loved to mentor others, advising with guidance they may need throughout their life.
Brenda is survived by her father, Meredith; mother, Dorothy; sisters, Wanda Minter, Gloria (Earl) Pledger; niece, Monica (Marquis Jamarr) Bumpas; great niece and nephew, KaTiyah and Darrius; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, with the Delta Sigma Theta Omega Omega ceremony to begin at 5:00 pm.
A home going service will be held at the Baxter Funeral Service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 starting at 10:00 am with Pastor Doug Banks officiating.
