T. Scot Canfield

I grieve that I will not be able to attend the memorial of MY Uncle - OUR Uncle and Steve and John YOUR FATHER! When my folks sold their home on 22nd street Uncle Cal and Aunt Jeanie helped them pack. When my folks pulled away Uncle Cal and Aunt Jeanie stood in the middle of the road and bawled! 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters...in all the stuff of the world that was tossed at them. . .they ALL served the Lord. They ALL were involved in each others lives and families. I could count on if I was scolded by and Aunt or Uncle it was backed up by my parents as they all agreed on how they all were going to raise their kids...all 5 raised their kids KNOWING CHRIST! When I had a issue, I would call my Dad in Florida, He would say contact Uncle Cal!! It became the NORMAL to "Call" Uncle Cal. After he retired he started to come over to Cricket and start lil remodeling projects to all thefinishing work on My LOFT above my Offices I built to live in...Unks was involved in almost every nail driven and Aunt Jeanie was following behind him cleaning up all the way while he was doing ALL the AMAZING finish work that turned a LOFT into a stunning Home. When I had had one of my 41 surgeries...Dad would call Uncle Cal and ask him to check on me..Many times at night before they went to bed they would drive the 2 miles to my Loft come up and come in and check on me most of the time I was in Bed...but I did not stir but was aware, they would stand their listening to my breathing...Unks would say"He is OK" and leave locking up my Loft then locking up Cricket cause they were FAMILY..of course they had keys to MY LIFE. After a while Cricket became a hangout every week Uncle would take Aunt Jeanie to get her hair done...come over to Cricket to hang out...then go get her and bring her back so "I COULD MAKE OVER HER HAIR" and bend way done and kiss her cheek every time...then Aunt Bonnie and her lil doggie and sometime Uncle Howard,Aunt Dorthy and Uncle Earl would all show up and they would get into some story and awesome laughing conversation...some times I would have to step away to take care of work stuff. BUT always came back to catch up. I remember to this day how I could make UNCLE CAL and Auntie actually all of my AUNTIES laugh there heads off and Uncle Earl shaking his head how crazy I could be, but laughing too! BUT, IT WAS THE TIME I HAD with "OUR-YOUR" PARENTS I CHERISHED and hold closely to my heart...I KNEW MY ELDERS...and given in time I KNEW THEIR STORIES of LIFE, LOVE and Adventures. To listen to their lives during World War II, Korean Conflict, how they took care of Mom "Marilyn" after loosing a baby after me and before Mark...and helping their young brother Stanley with his 3 and 1 year boys for almost a year, and the stories of their children serving during the Vietnam War and their FAITH in GOD to protect THEIR CHILDREN...and all that THERE COMBINED STRENGTH IN GOD AND IN "OUR" FAMILY WAS STUNNING! Tell me, do you know any other family were ALL the KIDS and their kidz-kidz turned out Loving their GOD "OUR" GOD...I don't know many!! As I write this I cry...cause I am not standing next to MY FATHER, STANLEY, Father, Dad, Papa, most of all "MY HERO" as "HE" watches the last Memorial of "HIS FAMILY" "HIS BIG BROTHER" Uncle Cal, THANK YOU for expressing YOUR LOVE for me through YOUR GIFTS OF HELPS"...your LOVE was DOING not just speaking! I laugh at memories flooding back of saying "Unks is it possible to build this to make it possible"? . .and His LOOK of "you crazy boy...OK, I will figure it out" AND DID,like removable walls and doors to collapse to make way for huge machinery at Cricket...HE ALWAYS SOLVED THE PROBLEM! and Auntie Jeanie right behind him cleaning up! I Love You UNCLE CAL!! You are with YOUR GOD the GOD you taught us to love and WE CHOOSE AS OUR GOD... YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN AS THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY THAT HAS GONE BEFORE YOU AND AUNT JEANIE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN BY ME...YOU TOUCHED MY LIFE AND MADE IT BETTER! Love Your Biggest Nephew (In Height) Scot
