When we moved to Climax we were lucky to have such wonderful neighbors as the Flemings. We did not have family in the area and they made us feel as a part of theirs. They introduced us to their family church, Assemble of God, which I feel was a big part of my daughter, Shiffra, gaining a strong belief and becoming strong teacher of the Bible to help so many people to this day. We were part of the many celebrations of their family. When Rochelle got married she had my daughter and son in the wedding. At the rehearsal dinner and the waitress came to take our orders, I was sitting next to Chuck and we started talking gibberish, so I would translate what Chuck wanted to order and his questions. This went on for a long time, poor waitress.
Chuck was always willing to give me a helping hand when needed. I was honored to be put on one of Chuck’s list of things he had to do. Only bad thing was when he was done and checked it off his list he was on to his next task. Chuck talked about his dump truck, so I was going get some gravel to hail and figured it would be easier to use his dump truck. So when I went over to get it and it was not a dump truck, but the truck he used to go to the dump with, so that was its name. He helped me so many times and hardly ever asked for help. So when he asked if I would help him to move a piano I obvious said yes, but then found out it was three pianos. The new piano went to one house and then one there to another house, etc.
One time when my wife went to the grocery store and came home that she had a can of refried beans that she didn’t mean to buy. Later found out Chuck saw her in the store and put it in her cart. Chuck got it back as a Christmas gift from her. Chuck always had an America flag flying. It was getting a little torn, so I left him a new one. I don’t think I ever told him where it came from.
Chuck always had jokes and he thought they were funny???? It was nice stopping by and chat and listen to all of his stories. Sadly he went from green tractors to red ones.
There are so many other wonderful stories about this wonderful man and friend.
