Obituary for Charlotte Adeline Nagel

Charlotte Adeline Nagel, 95, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2022. She was born on January 25, 1927, the daughter of Harry Taylor and Mary (Steskal) Taylor.

Charlotte received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1949. She began her teaching career in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and after moving to Battle Creek in 1963 she worked as a 3rd grade teacher for Harper Creek Community Schools for 17 years, until her retirement in 1986.

She was a 50+ year member of First Presbyterian Church where she was very involved in Miriam Circle and Sew and Sews. Charlotte was also a lifelong member of the Rebekah Lodge, Audobon Society, Order of the Easter Star, P.E.O. sisterhood and a 4-H Horse Club Leader.

Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Heidi Marie (Mark) Yarger of Galesburg, MI and Melissa Ruth (Kevin) Barnes of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Jim (Ann) Yarger of Norman, Oklahoma, Sarah (Phil) Varty of Denver, Colorado, Laura (Dirail) Flenorl of Baltimore, Maryland, Kyle (Janelle) Barnes of Battle Creek, Michigan and, Morgan (Nate) Smith of East Leroy, Michigan; great grandchildren, Macey, Jaxson, Addison, Aden, Breslyn, Baylor and Will; sister-in-law, Karen Taylor of Milwaukee, WI and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, Donald Emil Nagel, brother, Lee Taylor and sister, Jane Hagensick.

Charlotte loved birding, knitting, reading, camping all over the United States, traveling and splitting time between Lakeland, FL, and the home they built on Grand Travers Bay in Elk Rapids, MI. She also loved spending time with her family.
