Obituary for Clara Mae Burton (Tolls)
Clara Mae Burton, 71, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord and join her loving parents on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 10, 1952, the daughter of Amos Edward Tolls Sr. and Mae Ella (Grisson) Tolls.
Clara was a 1970 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and attended St. Phillip Catholic Schools during her elementary years. She attended Kellogg Community College, Western Michigan University and received her Associate Degree from Davenport University. She was a previous member of the National Rehabilitation Association.
Clara is survived by her husband, Richard Burton Jr.; son, Christopher Knox; grandson, Keenen Palmer; granddaughter, Tianna Palmer; brothers, Alan (Gayla) Mitchell, James Mitchell, Charles Mitchell; sister, Marian Mitchell; and special sister friend, Deborah Malone. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Contina Hudson; brother, Amos Tolls Jr.; sister, Catherine Hall; and in-laws, Richard and Mary Burton Sr.
Clara enjoyed reading and writing fiction novels. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved pug, Skittles. Above everything else however, Clara was devoted to her family and cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Family hour will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm.
Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Clara.
