Daniel Knowles Bodell, 76, of Marshall passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Oaklawn Hospital Hospice, surrounded by family and his special caregiver, Sara.He was born at the Nichols Hospital in Battle Creek on May 22, 1938 the son of Dwight M. and Angie (Evans) Bodell. Dan grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1956. He worked in various jobs in Battle Creek and in 1967 was employed by Grand Trunk Western Railroad where he worked for 32 years, retiring in July,1999 as head Billing Clerk. He moved to Marshall in 1968 where he lived until his passing. In past years he enjoyed racing remote control cars and bowling. He was a dog lover and had his special dog, Koda, with him at all times. He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Bodell of Kalamazoo, Cynthia (Jerry) Ekdahl of Battle Creek, two sons, Vance Bodell of Marshall and Chris (Kelly) Bodell of Battle Creek, one granddaughter, Brittany (Hachem) Ekdahl of Chicago, and a sister, Catherine (Stanley) Walker of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents. A private memorial service has taken place. Burial will be in Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens.
