Obituary for Darryl Vincent Jamison

Darryl V. Jamison was born June 5, 1961, to Leroy and Mary (Neal) Jamison. Darryl attended Battle Creek Central High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country for 2 years. He attended Kellogg Community College, where he earned his plumbing licenses. He had been employed with the US Postal Service for many years.

Darryl married Barbara Davis but ended in mutual friendship. On May 11, 1991, Darryl married Fransesta Henderson in the presence of family and friends.

Darryl loved driving big rigs and did for about 20 years until going home. He was employed with the Veterans Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi for the last 12 years.

Darryl enjoyed fishing, travelling with his wife, Fran, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Darryl never met a stranger. Either you were a sister from another mother or a brother from another mother. Darryl truly loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Darryl, 58, departed this life on May 11, 2020 at home in Jackson, Mississippi, surrounded by his wife, his mother and close family members.

Darryl leaves to celebrate and cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 29 years, Fransesta “Fran” Jamison; mother, Mary Kelley of Battle Creek, Michigan; 3 daughters, Jazzinique (Quinton) Stuton of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jermica Jamison of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Jessie (Sedadrick) Pierce of Jackson, Mississippi; sister, Glenda Jamison, Dedra Kelley, Marcia (Allen) Triggs of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Brenda Garrett of Detroit, Michigan; brothers, Leroy (Angie) Jamison, Jr. and Steven Garrett of Battle Creek, Michigan and Anthony (Debra) Fields of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Sam Henry of Prescott, Arkansas, Anthony (Mary) Pryor of Noxapater, Mississippi, Larry (Penny) Pryor, Mark Henderson and Jason Russell all of Jackson, Mississippi, and Joseph F. Henderson III of Clinton, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Renee Pryor of Jackson, Mississippi; special sisters-in-law, Tara Martin of Jackson, Mississippi and Angela Jamison of Battle Creek, Michigan; grandchildren, Jayden Warfield and Jaydah Alexander, both of Battle Creek, Michigan; Ji’Aire and Ja’Miah Pierce of Jackson, Mississippi; special uncle, James Kelley of Battle Creek, Michigan; special aunts, Julie Jamison of Kansas City, Missouri and Vivian (Willie) White of Jackson, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews,, aunts, uncles, and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father(s) Leroy Jamison and Robert “Bobby” Kelley; sisters, Carolyn Jamison and LaTonja Fields; grandmother, Florence Harris and brother-in-law, James D. Henderson.
