David Willard Harrison, 72, of Battle Creek, MI, died, Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born September 10, 1938 the son of James and Mary (Milligan) Harrison.
David was a 1956 graduate of Battle Creek Central and served in the US Navy 1957-1958 and again 1967-1968. He was employed at Kellogg's for 30 years before health reasons forced his retirement at age 52. He was a Millwright on 2nd Shift.
David is survived by Wife of 37 years: Kathy Harrison of Battle Creek, MI; Sons: Tim (Jennifer) Shaver of Portland, OR, James (Lisa) Harrison of Battle Creek, MI; Grandsons: Michael and Jordan; Brother: Buster Harrison of Bristol Lake, MI; Sister: Leota Potter of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; and Special Friend: Richard Robinson. He was preceded in death by his Parents.
David enjoyed playing music and singing. He sang in local groups at the PNA, Moose Lodge and local establishments. He enjoyed country music, old cars, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Grain Millers Union, DAV and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. In 1990 he won the local George Award for his participation in the Kellogg’s Annual Christmas Show for special needs children and their families.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
