David Wayne Snelling
December 27, 1958 – June 30, 2012
David, 53, a resident of Battle Creek for more than 20 years, passed away on Saturday June 30th after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Ruby Snelling.
David was born in Wilmington, OH the winter of 1958 the first of four children. Mr. Snelling is survived by his brother, two sisters and their spouses, John and Dena Snelling, Patricia and Donald Richards, and Judy and Dan Cutter. After graduating from Wilmington High school, Dave joined the US Army serving for 7 years in various positions. There he also fell in love with and married his wife of 34 years, Darcy Snelling. Their children surviving him in death are Sean Snelling, Ryan and Cynthia Reed and Ty and Ambur Snelling.
Dave flourished most as a grandfather, better known as Poppy. Having 5 grand children, Elijah (11), Embur(8), Kaydon(7), Faith(5) and Braden (5) brought out the big kid in him.
Dave was a great father, poppy, husband and friend and will be missed by many. Rest in peace, we love you.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday July 7, 2012 at 12:30p.m. at Rhema Word Outreach located at 21342 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to Rhema Word Outreach center or do a wonderful deed of kindness for someone else in Dave’s name.
