Obituary for Deborah A. Blazewski

Deborah Blazewski, 69, died peacefully at home on October 30, 2020 surrounded by family after a quick battle with cancer. Deb was born February 25, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Theresa (Carpenter) Meneguzzo. Deb graduated from Ladywood High School in Livonia, Michigan in 1969. Deb went on to attend the University of Detroit.

Deborah is survived by her daughters, Ariana Michaels and Katie Blazewski; sisters, Paula (Robert) Riggs, Marianne (David) Stier, Maureen (Gary) Smith, Carmen (Steven) Schwenk, and Lisa Meneguzzo; brothers, John, Peter and Timothy Meneguzzo; nieces, Carrie (Chris) Martin, Crystal (Thomas) Prebish, Nicole (Chris) Ryan; nephews, Rob (Tracy) Riggs and Jesse Riggs. Special Friend to many Kindred Spirits and Gentle Souls.

Deb’s family gives the warmest thanks to Deb’s friends who have showered her with love and support during her time of need. We would also like to thank the staff of NorthPointe Woods, Elara Hospice and her medical staff.

As a Welcome Ambassador at NorthPointe Woods, Deb made everyone feel welcomed. Deb was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and was active in St. Joseph as well as other surrounding Catholic Churches. Deb attended many rosary and prayer groups; she did not let COVID impact any of her groups, as Deb quickly learned and advocated for ZOOM to continue her work. If any senior would like assistance in learning how to video chat with your family, friends or faith group, please contact Katie at 269-339-0825.

Deb had many talents, from playing handbells, to the guitar, to the keyboard, to shining brightness on a shy soul, to welcoming everyone with hugs, conversation, coffee and muffins (she was sure to keep your favorites on-hand). She wanted everyone to feel loved. Deb brought smiles and warmth through her beautiful and thoughtful homemade cards. She captured priceless memories through her love of scrapbooking and by making cherished clothing for her family. If there was laughter in the room, it was guaranteed to be coming from Deb’s direction. What was the elephant doing on the freeway? About 5 mph

Deb will carry on through all of us with every smile, laugh and hug we share. “Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

“Job well done, my good and faithful servant.”

A memorial service will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church at 11:00am on Friday, November 6. Upon the resolve of COVID, a hug-filled memorial will be held next year. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund to cover final expenses on GoFundMe gf.me/u/y7a78r.
