Obituary for Donald Norman Krueger Sr.
Donald "Top" Norman Krueger Sr., 77, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on his late wife's birthday, Sunday, August 13, 2023. He was born on August 2, 1946, the son of Wilbur Krueger and Barbara (Diedrich) Green.
Donald honorably served 6 years in the United States Navy and then 14 years with the Marine Corp., where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon returning home, Donald worked two or three jobs at a time until he got hired at Post where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. He married Cynthia Lee Carpenter on February 11, 1967 in North Carolina, she preceded him in death in 2002.
Donald is survived by his children, Margaret (Alexander) Betancourt, Sheri (Jesse) Harkins, Donald Krueger Jr.; significant other, Dotti Hamann; grandchildren, Flora Ashton Hill, David Krueger, Kodi Harkins, Kali Harkins; great-grandchildren, Demetrius, Marcus, Haven; sisters, Lori (David) Popelka, Susan (Larry) Metcalf, Deb (John) Trewin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cynthia Krueger and siblings.
Donald was an avid outdoorsman. He had a love for riding his motorcycle, fishing and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He became very skilled in woodworking and finished many projects for his family and friends. Donald was a man that lived by the "Semper-Fi" motto where being always faithful to his country and family was never a question. He loved his family and making memories that could last a lifetime.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday August 21, 2023 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Interment will take place following the visitation in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
