Obituary for Duane Irving Young

Duane I. Young, 88, of Battle Creek passed away with family and friends at his side on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Duane was born on November 17, 1934 in Battle Creek, the son of Duane A. Young and Edna Hand. He was a 1953 graduate of Marshall High School. He was employed by Kellogg Company for 37 years retiring from the Warehouse Department.

Duane Irving Young and Wanda Charlene (Shotzie) were married September 6, 1953. Surviving are wife, Wanda; daughters, Deborah (Bob) Lincoln of Oakridge, Oregon; Camilla (Tom) Hoexter of Keizer, Oregon; Elizabeth (Mike) Hesock of Battle Creek, Michigan; son, Douglas Young of Loveland, Ohio; daughters, Stephanie (John) Krause of Battle Creek, Michigan; Tabitha Mingus of Battle Creek, Michigan; Robin Young of Corinth, Mississippi; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Duane liked traveling, gardening and cooking. Duane was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 24, 1955 and was most recently a member of the Harper Creek Congregation. He helped many people study the Bible and learn about Jehovah's promise for a paradise earth. As a member he helped in many building projects throughout Michigan as well as helping family and friends.

Cremation is being handled by Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service. A memorial will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5561 Morgan Road E. in Battle Creek, Michigan, at 4:30 pm.
