Obituary for Edna Rosell Virgil-Knox
Edna “Tootsie” Rosell Knox Virgil of Battle Creek went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Centrica Glenn Arbor Hospice with her family.
Edna was born on October 3, 1956 in Battle Creek, MI to Levester and Edna Mae (Mack) Knox. She married Earnest E. Virgil III on July 28, 1978. This union ended in divorce.
Edna attended Battle Creek Public Schools, graduating in 1974 from Battle Creek Central. She was a proud Bearcat!
She worked as a cook at the Sheraton, at Eaton Corporation, at Headstart as a bus driver, and at Kellogg’s, where she retired after 25 years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid photographer. She loved to cook, bake, talk on the phone, crafts, traveling and fishing.
She is survived by her daughter, Sanita Virgil; son, Andrew Virgil of Saint Joseph MI; sisters, Shirley Hudson and Vivian Knox of Fort Worth TX; brother, Johnny Knox of Benton Harbor MI. Edna had six grandchildren and great grandchildren and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Levester and Sylvester Knox; and son, Earnest E. Virgil IV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Sanita Virgil, 53 Sanderson Street, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road.
