Obituary for Elizabeth Laurie "Betsy" Brunt (Bigley)

Elizabeth Laurie Brunt, 72 of Battle Creek Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 11th, 2019 at Bronson Battle Creek hospital. She was born in Kalamazoo Michigan on June 6th, 1947, the daughter of Gordon and Edna Bigley.

Betsy graduated from Galesburg-Augusta Highschool in 1965 and went on to achieve a degree in Fine Arts from Western Michigan University in 1968.
Betsy worked various jobs including graphic design and was a devoted employee at Willard library for 38 years until her retirement in 2013.

Betsy was involved in many quilt groups including the Cal-Co Quilt Guild, Phyllis’ Phriends, Sew’n Sews, Ladies of the Lake,Syncopated Threads, Spring Chicks, and the Quilted Postcards. She also enjoyed making quilts for loved ones, displaced children, and veterans at the V.A.

Betsy enjoyed quilting, spending time with her friends, all forms of art, musicals and stage shows, Sunday dinners with family, and loved her pets dearly.

Betsy is survived by her daughter Angela Susan (Jeremiah) Edwards, son, Greg Allan Brunt, grandsons, Tyler and Parker Edwards, brothers, Bruce (June) Bigley and Vance (Gail) Bigley, her dog, Izzy, and her cat, Bella. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Albert Bigley and mother, Edna Evaline (VanSickler) Bigley.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Betsy will be held at Baxter Funeral Home, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm with Rev. James Codde.

A private family gathering will be held in the spring at Boughton Cemetery.
