Obituary for Eller Jean Cotton (Brounston)

On Saturday April 30, 2022 Eller Cotton the loving mother of three passed away at the age of 83 in Snellville, Georgia. Eller was born on May 5th, 1938 in Lansing, Michigan to Climmer T. Harris and James Avery. She raised two sons and a daughter, Stephan, Stafford and Stephanie. Eller was a valued member of the community in Battle Creek. Eller had a passion for working with children as an educator in the Battle Creek School System. She worked for many years as a receptionist at Dr. Ziarko’s office. She retired in 2018 as a foster grandparent for the Battle Creek School System where she influenced many. She had a special place in her heart for her cats and sweet treats. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, and compassionate spirit.

Eller was preceded in death by her parents, Climmer T. Harris and James Avery; siblings, Odessa Acrea, Welton Neal, James Brounston and grandson, Stephan Cotton II.

Eller is survived by her three children, Stephanie Welch, Stephan Cotton, and Stafford (Patricia) Cotton. Her grandchildren, Latoia Welch, Derick Welch, Brianna Cotton, Destinee Cotton, Tervon Kentsey Cotton, Ashley Carrey and Keanne Cotton. As well as great and great great-grandchildren. Extended family members, Miller Hunter, Mona White and Carita Keene. And a host of other loving relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

A celebration of life service to honor Eller will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Saturday, May 14, 2022 starting at 10:00 am with Pastor Christopher J. McCoy officiating.

Interment will take place following the service at Reese Cemetery in Springfield, MI.
