Obituary for Ellwood James "Jim" Huestis
Ellwood "Jim" James Huestis, 85, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on January 26, 1936, the son of James Leroy and Mary I. (Damgarrd) Huestis.
Jim honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Army Special Forces Green Berets Paratrooper. He dedicated 35 years to teaching, the majority of those years took place at Coldwater Public Schools. Jim married the love of his life, Priscilla Wagar in 1966.
Jim is survived by his Wife of 55 years, Priscilla I. Huestis; Son, Ken (Lori) Huestis; Grandchildren, Stephanie, Bailey (Kevin) and Roni; Great Grandchildren, Rylee, Levi and Wyatt; Son, Chad (Julie) Huestis; Grandson, Zachary; Sister, Mary Jane (James) Wallace and Sister-In-Law, Carol Huestis. He was preceded in death by his Parents, James Leroy and Mary I. Huestis and Brother, Chuck Huestis.
Jim had a passion for woodworking, his favorite was making wooden furniture. He also enjoyed reading. Many people referred to him as the "History Buff" because he was very knowledgeable in all things history. He was a simple man that loved his family and teaching those in his classes. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all those that knew and loved him.
Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and no service will be held.
Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
