Ernest Hayes White went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Ernie, also known as "Big Ern" and "Sonny" was born June 20, 1938, the son of Ernest and Dorothy White of West Virginia. He was employed by Knolls Heating and Cooling before working at Clark Equipment for nearly 25 years. He also spend time as a car dealer and professional driver after leaving Clark's. Ernie married his best friend, Joan (Phillips) White on July 3, 1957.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Joan, sons John White, Jeffery (Sue) White and Robert (Tracy) White, all of Battle Creek. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, Ernie White Jr., also of Battle Creek.
He loved spending time with his family, and was an avid car buff and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed bargain hunting at various auctions and garage sales. He has obtained quite the collection of odds and ends that brought him much enjoyment.
