Obituary for Esther L. Davis

Esther Louise Davis, 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born on November 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Joseph Green and Alice Irene (Latchaw) Pebly. She was a graduate from Bible School in Toronto, Canada. Esther served as the church organist, youth director and choir director, ministering alongside her sister and brother-in-law, at First Assembly of God in Brookville, PA. She and her husbands pastored in Church of God and the United Methodist Churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Idaho. She was a store manager in Pennsylvania where she trained managers.

Esther is survived by her nephew, Rev. Dale (Susan) Boyer; two nieces, Marilyn (Ron) Gore and Jewell (Rick) Rude; two brothers, Fred (Loretta) Green and William "Bill" (Carol) Green; sister, Joan Boyer; numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family and special Friend, Patty DeCuypere. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Rev. Bob Dillon and Rev. O.G. Davis and brother, Dennis Green.

Esther was an avid reader; she enjoyed walking, feeding the birds, visiting with neighbors, oil painting, ceramics, and word search games. She loved children and enjoyed children's ministries and bible schools. She always had stuffed animals at her home for the visiting neighborhood children.

The funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday, September 27, 2019, 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Esther's name may be made to CityLinC. Arrangements entrusted to Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service.
