Evelyn (Jean) Lantrip entered into her eternal rest on July 14, 2017 surrounded by loving family.
Evelyn was born on January 22, 1927 in Heflin, Alabama, the third of nine children born to Joseph and Effie Vise. She grew up in rural Alabama, worked in an aircraft plant during WWII and move to Michigan after marrying her husband Jim in 1946.
Evelyn was a 25 year employee of the Kellogg Company before retiring in 1982. Following Jim’s retirement, they moved to Florida enjoying several years of golfing and dinner together with new friends before returning to Battle Creek in 2001. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, delighting in visits from children, grand children and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years in 2005, as well as four brothers and one sister. Two brothers, Morris (Ann) Vise and Jim Vise and one sister Emma Jo Barger survive her.
Her surviving children include Bonnie (Gene) Weidmeyer, Sue (Bill) Crawford and Ron (Sue) Lantrip. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am July 18 at Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service.
