Obituary for Fay D. Washington

Fay Della Washington, 83, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2020. She was born on February 14, 1937, in Lovejoy, Illinois, the daughter of the late Jesse Woolfork, Sr. and Alice Jean (Bradley) Shelby.

Fay Della enjoyed sewing, crocheting and other arts and crafts. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and going on annual ‘sister-trips’. Her greatest loves were her husband, family and reading and studying the Bible.

She was a member of Maranatha Original Church of God, under the leadership of Geraldine T. Richardson.

Her main focus was always family. She only worked outside of the home for short periods of time just to fund vacations or extra shopping.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lewis W. Washington; four sons, Preston (Lisa), Brad, Cedrick (Lisa) and Cortez (Markeya); two daughters, Fay (Tony) and Josette; eleven grandchildren, Dawan, Ashley, Terrell, Sherrell, Alyssa, Kayla, LaRon, LaTrevion, Little Cortez, Jasmine and Janelle; eleven great-grandchildren, Oliviah, Laron II, Shayla, Kierra, Amaris, Makayla, Ava, Olivia, Cameron, Isiah, Noelle; eleven sisters and five brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Cornelius; grandson, DeMarcus; one sister; one sister/cousin and three brothers.


The funeral service will be held at the Maranatha Original Church of God, 400 Waubascon Road, on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 12:00 pm. The family hour will be from 11:00 to 12:00. Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
