Obituary for Florence Hill

Florence Hill was born May 10, 1934, in Bessemer AL to George and Fanny (Jones) Mason. She moved to Battle Creek MI in 1947. She united with Shady Grove Baptist Church (Pastor Tubbs) in 1950. She attended Ann J. Kellogg Elementary, WK Kellogg Junior High School and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School.
Florence loved spending time with family, bowling and singing. She song in the inspirational choir and later when the name of the church was changed to First Salem Baptist Church, she joined the Senior choir. She worked at the Federal Center for 31 years.12 ½ years as Branch Chief Secretary and 18 ½ years as Lead Editor of the Publications Department; from which she retired August 1995.
On December 10, 2022, Florence was called home to be with the Lord in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents George and Fanny Mason; Son, Dana Hill; Brother Benjamin Mason and Niece Yvonne Goodson.
Florence is survived by Daughters, Renee (Hill) Morris and Tamera Hill; Granddaughters, Lateeka Morris, Malisa White, Estella Hickman, LaTanya Pruitt, Carmine (Kitchen) Heidelberg, Tiona Graham and Grandson Dana Hill II; 7 Great Grandchildren, Deandro Sweet Jr., Nico Turner, Zacareia Craig, Nakia Turner, Kiayasha Tuner, Malik Johnson, Masai Teague and 7 Great Great Grandchildren; God Daughter Brenda Glasper Foye of Franklinton NC, Sister- in- love; EarLee Mason, Best Friends; Arlene Kennedy and Ollie Griffin (Special Cousin); Special Cousin Ben Hutchins.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road, on Wednesday December 14, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Salem Baptist Church, 370 Capital Ave SW, on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Leon Coleman III officiating.
Interment will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
