Forrest G. “Jerry” Parsons Sr. was born June 5, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Forrest or Jerry, as he was known to his friends, worked and retired from Michigan Carton after 37 years.
Jerry was an avid motorcycle rider and rode many miles, including a trip to Alaska. He was a man of great stature but a truly gentle soul. He was lovingly known to many as Big Daddy. Jerry kept his sense of humor even in the difficult times, often picking on his favorite nurses and servers at his favorite restaurants.
Jerry and the love of his life, Carol, were married for 44 very happy years. They enjoyed their times with friends and family and loved to host parties. They were soul mates who traveled often to the lakeshore to enjoy the sunset and the views. Jerry also loved to hit the casinos around Michigan and sometimes even came out ahead a few bucks. Together, Jerry and Carol raised seven children. Jerry was a very proud father and grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Carol Parsons of Bellevue, Michigan; brothers, Bob Parsons of Battle Creek, Michigan and Tom Parsons of Hastings, Michigan; sons, Tom (Tina) Parsons of Bellevue, Michigan, Dan (Angie) Parsons of Delton, Michigan; stepdaughters, Marla (Larry) Harris of Clarksville, Tennessee, Tracey (Rod) Moskun of Bellevue, Michigan; stepson, Herb (Carol) DeKorte of Carmichael, California; also surviving are his 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren as well as his best friend, Larry Nasers of Battle Creek, Michigan. Jerry was preceded in death by son, Forrest G Parsons Jr.; brother, Ron Lee Parsons; grandson, Michael Moskun, and his parents.
In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and a service immediately following at 5:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Baxter Funeral & Cremation. www.baxterfuneral.com
