Obituary for Frances Ellen "Fran" Smith (Wech)
Frances Ellen (Wech) Smith, 84, of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday August 17, 2019. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Fran is survived by her husband of 63 years, Voidure D. Smith, Jr., her daughter, Kathryn (Timothy) Eccles, her husband’s three sisters: Coreta Huls, Maveta (Gus) O’Green and Patsy (Herb) Birch, two grandchildren, one great-grandson and a close family friend, Julie Brott. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers and her son, Thomas J. Smith.
Fran served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1955 to 1957. She was an avid sportswoman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
At her request, there will be no funeral service - the family will have a small private memorial at a future date.
