Obituary for Franklin Eugene Shaw

Franklin Eugene (Skip) Shaw IV, of Battle Creek, was called home to meet his beloved Lord passing unexpectedly from an aneurism. During his passing, Skip was surrounded by his loving family.

Skip was born on June 18, 1958 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Franklin Eugene Shaw III and Marion Joyce Shaw. His marriage of 25 years to Shelley Shaw ended in amicable divorce. Together they had two children Stephanie Shaw and Andrew Shaw. He married the love of his life Jolene Shaw on April 20, 2019.

Skip was a Lakeview High School graduate in 1976. Received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Ferris State University. He was a devoted University of Michigan fan, along with the Shaw family who all were season ticket holders to the football program since the 1930's.
He worked for and managed Redwood & Ross out of college. Skip then continued his career in sales at Adams Remco in Portage, MI for the past 24 years. Skip enjoyed ministering to the homeless at Battle Creek Shelter. He loved singing and dancing, was an avid and talented golfer, and proud to be a Miller Jewelers Softball State Champion (1985).
Skip loved time with his family and friends, and spending time outdoors whether he was walking his dogs or traveling.
He was known as the "King of Cornhole" and always had time for a game of cribbage or euchre.
His sense of humor always made people laugh. Most importantly Skip loved his blended family; Skip is survived by his wife Jolene (Searls); his children Stephanie Marie Shaw of Cottonwood, AZ (fiancé Preston Maisel), Andrew Reed Shaw of Grand Rapids, MI (girlfriend Lauren McCumber), step-sons Tarek Lussier, Justin Lussier, Joseph Lussier, and step-daughter Holly Lussier (fiancé Zack Harper). Mother Joyce Shaw, Brothers David (Rock) Shaw and Peter Shaw, Father-in-Law: Roger Searls, Brother-in-Laws: Stephen (Jennifer) Searls & David Searls and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Franklin Eugene (Pete) Shaw III and sister-in-law Sharon (Peter) Shaw. Skip was a selfless organ donor through Gift of Life Michigan. Memorials may be directed to Gift of Life Michigan or the Battle Creek Shelter.

A Celebration of Skip's life will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Family request casual dress and UofM Maize & Blue colors.
