Freddie Nash, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, was called from labor to reward on Sunday, April 26, 2020. She was born on January 13, 1941, in Marvell, Arkansas, the daughter of Zeb Page Sr. and Addie (Loving) Page.
She attended Arkansas Public Schools and relocated to MI with two children from a previous marriage, where she later met and married Robert Nash who had two children, and added two more children together.
Her love for family led her to leave the work force early in her career, to stay home with her children. She was a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing and re-fashioning hats and shoes.
Freddie loved the Lord and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earl F. Young, where she served in the kitchen and clothing ministry and gospel chorus. Freddie had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed taking care of elderly neighbors, serving as a companion and ensuring their homes were clean and they had hearty meals on the holidays. Her love for humanity was further demonstrated in the 11 years of compassionate care that she provided for her mother allowing her to age in place until her death at the age of 105.
She leaves a legacy of love behind in her Husband of 52 years, Robert, Son, Melvin Tate of Battle Creek, MI; Daughters, Belinda (Terry) Williams of St. Louis, MO, Dorothy (Andre) Patterson of Florissant, MO, Victoria (Timothy) Reese of Battle Creek, MI, Robbie Nash of Battle Creek, MI; A Special Granddaughter who she raised, Kameaka Tate and Sister Pecolia Skelton of Battle Creek; Two Amazing Friends, Christine Crump and Lyl Jefferson; 14 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, 8 Great Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, 1 Brother-In-Law and 3 Sister-In-Laws.
She was preceded in death by her Daughter, Leeunice Tate, in 1975, as well as 12 siblings, her Mother and Father.
Complying with the current restrictions in place, a funeral service will be held at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, on Thursday, April 30, 2020, 12:00 pm with Rev. Timothy Troxler officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
