Obituary for Fredrick Asa Reid
Fredrick Asa Reid, 72, of Springfield, Michigan, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020. He was born on May 13, 1947, the son of Charles Franklin Reid and Ruth May (Jones) Reid.
He is survived by his sister, Cleo Jean (Roger) Keyes; brother, Alton Leroy Reid; two nephews, Christopher Reid and Asa Charles Reid, Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth May Reid; father, Charles Franklin Reid; brother, Asa Charles Reid, Sr.; sisters, Arda, Corinne, and Darlene; nephews, Charles and Harold.
Fredrick loved Native American Culture. He enjoyed riding his moped, attending car shows, bowling, playing golf, and just spending time with people. He was a professional upholsterer and had a knack for crafts. A special thank you to his guardian, Anita Blowers.
The visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday January 23, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Andrus Street Church of God, 765 Andrus Street, on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Hastings, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fredrick's name may be made to Gallaudet University Model Secondary School for the Deaf, 800 Florida Ave. NE Washington DC 20002.
