Obituary for Gary Lee Beatty

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Gary Lee Beatty on May 13, 2023, in Battle Creek, MI, where he finally succumbed to cancer.

He was born on October 22, 1944, in Battle Creek, MI, and was a lifelong resident.

Gary proudly served in the United States Navy, after his service he worked for Diamond Rio, then Rockwell.

Gary was passionate about building all kinds of things and tinkering with small motors. He could fix almost anything that was put in front of him. He enjoyed getting burritos from Pennfield Pizza, and loved going to bars and dancing like no one was watching.

Gary will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his love of life and his bizarre sense of humor which was a Beatty brother trait. Ask anyone and they would tell you, those Beatty brothers were full of jokes and pranks. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Florence (Snyder) Beatty; step-father, Leon Snyder; siblings, Robert Beatty, Francis Jelinek, Harold Beatty, Jim Beatty, Jack Beatty, and Tom Beatty.

Gary is survived by his brother, Bill Beatty; children, Jim (Wendy) Messer, Keith (Pam) Beatty, Chris (Dennise) Lick; long-time partner, Mary Lick; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, too many to count.

Funeral services will be held at the Fort Custer National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with full military honors on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:30 am.
