Obituary for Gary E. Reading
Gary E. Reading, 56, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Kambly Living Center.
Gary was born May 6, 1963, in Battle Creek, Michigan to Edwin and Carol (Moore) Reading.
Gary attended Beadle Lake Elementary School until May of 1973 when he was seriously injured when hit by a vehicle while crossing Columbia Avenue to buy stickers for his minibike. He loved everything "Harper Creek" and every team was the "Beavers" to him.
Gary lived at home under his parents' watchful and loving care until 2015 when he moved to Kambly Living Center. While his move was a difficult decision for his family he truly gained a second family at Kambly Living Center where he enjoyed the caring staff, the activities and other residents.
Gary is survived by his devoted mother, Carol Reading of Battle Creek; sisters, Marcia (Jeff) Owen of Battle Creek and Sharon (Kurt) Barrett of Battle Creek; brother, Jim (Life Partner Doug Gould) Reading of Douglas; niece, Jennifer Lawson; nephews, Stephen Miles, Greg Owen and David Miles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Reading in 2006 and by his Uncle Ted Moore of South Haven in 2020.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 13, 2020 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm, prior to the funeral service which will be starting at 1:00 pm at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service in Battle Creek.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Kambly Living Center or the Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center.
Gary will be laid to rest in Newbre Cemetery next to his Father at a later date.
