George Arthur Hatch, 81, passed from this life Monday, November 23, 2020, and is sheltered safely in the arms of God.
He was born August 3rd, 1939 in Gordon, Nebraska, son of Ernest C. and Mildred I. (Hutton) Hatch. George grew up on the family farm and gradated from Gordon High School. He attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, TX, where he met his one and only who would become his wife. On October 7, 1961, he married Janeth Frye of Battle Creek, MI. They lived the first year in Nebraska, but moved to Battle Creek in 1962, where they have lived ever since. There were 3 children born to this union, Steven R. Hatch of Battle Creek, Brian D. Hatch of Battle Creek and Kimberly D. (Bob) Shaw of Port St Lucie, FL.
George was a hard worker, and held many positions in his life. He worked 25 years for Ralston Purina, and has been retired since 2001. George enjoyed life. He especially liked to go camping or traveling and spend time with his family. Those left to miss him include his wife Jan, children Steve, Kim (Bob) and Brian, grandchildren Stevie & Jessie Hatch, Whitnie Meier, Brandon Hatch, all of Battle Creek, Kody Meier of Grand Rapids, and Benjamin Hatch of New York, NY, as well as one brother, Ernest (Diane) Hatch, Sister-in-Law Sally Hatch, of Gordon, NE, a sister, Beulah Shields of North Platte, NE, Great Grandchildren, Gabrielle Johnson, Jaiden Meier, Harley Meier, Ryland Hatch and Carson Eberhard, all of Battle Creek, as well as many other nieces, nephews and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Mildred Hatch, LoAnn Ostrander, David Hatch, Lenore Hatch of Gordon, NE, sisters, Joanne Coon and Mayme Heyer of Beaverton, OR, Lavona Gealy of Scotts Bluff, NE.
George was active in church all of his life. He served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Board Member. He most recently attended Family Altar Chapel.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28th at Family Altar Chapel, 14844 6 1/2 Mile Road, Battle Creek, with visitation at 10:00 a.m.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Family Altar Chapel.
