Obituary for Geraldine Campbell (Valient)
Geraldine "Geri" Campbell, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at The Oaks at Northpointe Woods. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 24, 1943, the daughter of Steve and Josephine (Zarovy) Valient.
She graduated from Hinsdale High School in 1961. She attended Northern Illinois University and the National College of Education in Evanston, IL. Geri started her working career at the VA Hospital in Chicago, Penn Central Railroad in Elkhart, IN, VA Hospital in Battle Creek and completed her career for DRMS at the Federal Center in Battle Creek retiring in 1999 after 32 years of federal service. After retirement, Geri enjoyed her time with the Scottish Society of Southwest Michigan and The Senior Travel Club of Battle Creek. Geri belonged to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek.
Geri is survived by her husband, Larry Campbell; children, Lila Spears of Lafayette, LA, Carrie (Chris) Michaels of Ada, MI, Mike (Wendy) Campbell of Alpine, CA, Scott (Shannon) Campbell of Harrison Township, MI; grandchildren, Danielle (Russell) Bailey, Lori Ann McAdam, Tamara (Jesse) Caswell, Morgyn Michaels, Rylee Michaels, Sean Campbell and Shannon Campbell; great-grandchildren, Alex and Eoin Bailey, Natalee Thompson and Kane Caswell; sister, Tina (Mike) Knapp, nieces, Anne (Ian) Moore, Sarah Swanson; special lifelong friends, Kay Wallace, Karen Green, Mary Conners, Cheri Schmoll and the late Anitra Bettac. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road, on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm, followed by a luncheon at 3:00 pm.
