Obituary for Gordon Denton Lackey

Gordon Denton Lackey, 81, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on June 2, 1936, the son of Ernest and Nevada (Keaton) Lackey.
Gordon enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and served faithfully for 6 years. After he was discharged, he was a truck driver for Overnite Transportation then for UPS Freight until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the teamsters. Gordon and his wife were members of Cornerstone Community Church for the past few years.
Gordon is survived by his Wife of 55 years - Victoria Pauline (Varndell) Lackey; three Daughters, Karen (Larry) Lackey-Black, Bobbie Jo Lackey, and Deanna Lackey-Mann; Sister, Joyce Cushing; 9 Grandchildren, Tonya Madsen, Joshua Black, Joseph Black, Brandon LaFountain, Trevor LaFountain, Brent Mann, Brian Mann, Bradley Mann, and Bruce Mann; 15 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings.
Gordon enjoyed traveling, being a jokester, playing games and winning a bit of money while he was at it. Above all else he loved spending time with his family but his grandchildren were his world. Cremation has taken place per Gordon's request.
A graveside service will be held at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, on Monday, October 23, 2017, at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.
