Gordon Nouhan, 88, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born on January 6, 1931, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Fadel) Nouhan.
Gordon attended MacKenzie High School in Detroit, MI. In 1949 he volunteered for the draft and served in the Army. While stationed in Texas, he was trained to operate radar equipment. After completing the course he was assigned to remain in Texas to teach the course to other military personal, before being sent to Korea where he served in a war zone for 1 year before being honorably discharged. As a youth he worked with his father and older brother in the grocery business in Detroit MI. He served as an alter boy at Our Lady of Redemption, in Detroit. Gordon worked for IBM from 1959-1991 where he received two awards for his contributions advancing computer operations on the GEMINI and APOLLO missions.
Gordon was preceded in death by his wife Nancy (Hall), his son Scott, his parents Peter and Elizabeth, and brother, Joseph (Roger).
Gordon is survived his son, David, daughters, Mary and Cheryl, and grandson, Marty Nielson of Battle Creek, MI. And his step-children Dick, Brenda and Don. He is also survived by his brother, Harry and 3 sisters, Martha Ganem, Carole Alberts, and Ghislaine Slayton. Gordon has many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Gordon enjoyed the bi-yearly Nouhan Family reunion. He will be missed this year.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation, 375 W. Dickman Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037 on Thursday, July 11, starting at 10:00 am. Service at 11:30 and Procession to Fort Custer for Burial at 1:30 pm.
Interment will take place at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
