Obituary for Gregory Dean Parker Sr.

It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we share that our father, brother, uncle, family member and friend passed away at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital on Monday, July 27, 2020.
He was born on January 30, 1947 to Horace Greeley and Hazel Louise Parker in Battle Creek.
He attended Battle Creek Public Schools, graduating from Battle Creek Central High School. Following graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corp from 1965-1968, serving as a Jet Engine Mechanic and attaining rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged with several medals and honors.
When he returned home, he married and raised a family. He was an employee of Post Cereals for 25 years and most recently enjoyed driving school bus for Dean Transportation.
Gregory enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends; among the most fortunate them, he was known to make the world’s greatest goulash. He had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He was resourceful and always willing to lend a helping hand. Greg was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving son, father, brother, grandfather, friend and person.
Gregory is survived by brothers Serle (Jeanie) Parker of Minneapolis and Garland Parker of Grand Rapids; adoring daughters Dana Hardy of Battle Creek and Amber Parker of Phoenix; Granddaughters Savannah, Soleil and Selene Royal of Phoenix and Janiece Parker of Battle Creek. Also cherishing his memory are a multitude of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William “Lamont” Parker, son Gregory D. Parker, Jr. and granddaughter Amaia Hardy.
In accord with Greg’s wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be interred at a family plot in Albion at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service.
