Harlan Eugene Van Hoose Jr., 73, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born on April 6, 1949, the son of Harlan Eugene Van Hoose and Gloria Marilyn (Sloas) Van Hoose.
Gene graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1968. After high school he honorably served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam era serving two tours oversees. Gene worked at Kellogg as a machinist for 44 years before his retirement. Gene loved taking care of Malamutes, he had several throughout his lifetime and always made sure to give them the best care possible. He was a Master Craftsman, he enjoyed woodworking, his numerous machining projects, air brush painting and tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed making masterpieces for friends and family and receiving little in return and that was the kind of friend and man he was. If anything was broken, Gene was the man to fix it.
Gene is survived by his sons, David Van Hoose, Christopher (Stephanie) Van Hoose; grandchildren, Reece and Nadia Van Hoose and siblings, Linda Van Hoose, Sandy Smith, Terry (Debra) Van Hoose. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:30 am.
Interment will take place at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
