Obituary for Harvie Levi Root Jr.

Harvie Levi Root Jr., 75, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Battle Creek Manor. He was born on March 13, 1941, the son of Harvie Levi Root Sr. and Caroline Mary (Gardner) Root.
Harvie served in the U.S. Army after high school. He was employed at Eaton Corp., the Battle Creek VA Hospital, Lowe's, Country Fever, and was a Security Guard and an electrician. Through the 70's and 80's, he and his father owned and operated "Root's Upholstery." He also served on the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former member of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge.
Harvie is survived by his three daughters, Kristine (Charles) Leffew of Battle Creek, MI, Debra (Kevin) Holcomb of Battle Creek, MI, and Mary (David) Phillips of Bellevue, MI; two sons, David (Julie) Root of Battle Creek, MI and Jerold (Lori Adkins) Root of Battle Creek, MI; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harvie enjoyed gardening, canning, working on cars, tinkering in the garage, camping, fishing and loved the outdoors.
