Obituary for Henry Brown Caruthers

Bishop Henry Brown Caruthers, was born December 23, 1930 to the late Maxie and Alieen (Bently) Caruthers in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Being the age of 92, Bishop Caruthers transitioned July 6, 2023. II Timothy 4:7
“ I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”.

Bishop Caruthers served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War and afterwards in the National Reserves. After returning, Bishop Caruthers graduated from Jewell Academy and Seminary. He moved to Battle Creek, MI in 1957 and became a member of the Church of the Living God. He served faithfully in the Church of the Living God as Chairman Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. He also served as an Associate and Senior Pastor of Battle Creek, MI; and joint Associate Pastor of Cleveland, OH. In addition, Bishop Caruthers served as Presiding Elder of the state of Florida and Wisconsin. He was appointed a member of the Auditing Committee; and he was ordained to Bishop in 2010.

Bishop Henry Caruthers was joined in holy matrimony to his help meet and love Irene Caruthers for 67 years. They birth and trained two children Henry Jr. and Debra.

Bishop Caruthers retired from the Battle Creek Veteran Administration Medical Center, with over 30 years of service as supervisor of housekeeping. Throughout his long tenure he received several performance; appreciation; faithful and loyal awards.

Bishop Caruthers believed in the Word of God, and letting his light shine where ever he went. He supported the leadership of the Church of the living God.

Bishop Henry Caruthers will be greatly missed, He leaves a great legacy behind him. He leaves to cherish his memory wife: Irene Caruthers; son: Henry Caruthers Jr (Tina) of Battle Creek, MI; daughter: Debra (Terrence) Glenn of Coconut Creek, FL. Five grand-children Lisa (Eden) Itela of Hudsonville, MI; Eric (Jessica) Caruthers of Ann Arbor, MI; Andrea (Matt) Beaty of Grand Prairie, TX; Malcah Baisden of Delray Beach, FL; Airame (Marc) Eloizin of Coral Springs, FL. Eight great-grand children and host of nieces; nephews and friends.

He was proceeded in death by parents and all his siblings.

A family hour will be held at the Church of the Living God on Saturday July 15, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A celebration of Henry's life will be held at the Church of the Living God, 2687 W. Michigan Avenue, on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 am with Bishop Kim Dukes officiating.
Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
