Obituary for Henry Oscar "Hank" Dietz Jr.

Henry "Hank" Oscar Dietz Jr. passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019. He was born in Kalamazoo on October 2, 1926 to parents, Henry Oscar and Anna Grace (Neidewitz) Dietz. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, a baby brother at birth, Gordon, Bill, Bobby and La Roy and a sister, Lena.
He attended Kalamazoo Central High School and was a Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S Navy. He married Maxine Elva Bedunah on August 21, 1948. She passed away on March 30, 1981. He spent his working years at Sutherland-Brown Company - James River Corp. and retired from Georgia Pacific Corp.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynnette, Cynthia and Douglas Roorbach, son, Dennis and daughter, Cathy and Roger Hill and daughter in law, Peggy Dietz. Also, five grandchildren, Kevin and Danielle Roorbach, Heather and Brandon Newell, Trevor and Jennifer Roorbach, Tamara and Kyle Mumford and Derick Dietz and his significant other Christiana Kay Rohall. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Trent Roorbach, Kameryn Roorbach, Paityn and Kaidence Beam, Eastyn Roorbach, Abigail Dietz, Haidyn Mumford, Tailor Mumford, Avery Dietz, Kaitlyn Newell, Claiton Mumford, Isaac Newell, Audrey Roorbach, Lucas Roorbach, Miley Kay Dietz and Kylie Jo Newell due in October, great nephew Zack and Kim Dietz and their sons Jameson and Andrew and several nieces and nephews.
Henry enjoyed watching and following the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He enjoyed vegetable gardening. He also loved to go to Las Vegas and other family vacations and the Dietz-Wolfe Fest Family Reunions.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Bruno and his wonderful staff and Hospice of Southwest Michigan for their excellent care and support.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Thursday, August 1 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, with the Funeral Service immediately following at 12:00 pm.
Private interment at Mt. Everest Cemetery in Kalamazoo, MI.
