Obituary for Jacob William Stiemsma

Jacob William Stiemsma of Battle Creek passed away on December 25, 2021. He was born on March 16, 1987 to Christine Langridge and William Scott Stiemsma. Jacob attended Verona Elementary, Olivet Middle School, Bellevue and Lakeview High Schools and was a graduate of Calhoun Community High School in 2006.

He was baptized and confirmed a 5th generation member of First Congregational Church of Battle Creek.

In his youth, Jacob played soccer, trombone and ran cross country and track. He ran 5Ks in Michigan and Texas. Jacob enjoyed chasing hot air balloons and tent camping on Lake Michigan. He also loved garage and estate sales, antiques and ancestry.

Jacob lived in Washington State, California and Texas in his early twenties. He was employed in retail, food service, maintenance and several Fort Custer factories throughout his young life.

Pokemon Go Battle Creek was Jacob’s second family, as he was an avid player from the start.

Jacob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Bernice Stiemsma.

He is survived by his mother, Christine Langridge Bilodeau; and stepfather, Paul H. Bilodeau of Parchment; his brother, Jared (Ciara) Henke; his aunt, Marilyn (Missy) Stewart; and cousin, Jenna Stewart; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Martha Langridge; and father, William S. (Dollie) Stiemsma of Three Rivers.

Special thanks to Summit Point, the Salvation Army and the Share Center for serving as lifelines when Jacob needed them.

A visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm with the celebration of life service to follow at 5:00 pm.
