Obituary for Jairus Douglas Cook

Jairus "Jerry" Cook, of Delton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 18, 2020. He was born on November 28, 1959 to Max and Luella Cook. He worked as a carpenter for many years. He lived in multiple states but found Delton to be his final home.

Jerry enjoyed staying busy and tinkering with any task possible. He spent his time with loved ones and friends that he held dear. He loved camping and fishing. He was an avid member of his neighborhood. His neighbors could always find him drinking coffee on the porch, helping a fellow neighbor, or making home improvements. They will hold dear to heart his smiling face, open ear and witty stories.

He found comfort in his growing relationship with Jesus Christ. You could find multiple bibles and Jesus videos throughout his home. His last final years he spent getting to know his son Kyle. He took great pride in how their bond was growing and flourishing. He will be missed by many.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother James Cook, and sister Marilyn Cook. He is survived by his son, Kyle Madison of Battle Creek; two brothers, Joe Cook of Kalamazoo, and Gary Cook; three sisters Loretta Cook of Kalamazoo, Alaura Decker of Lawton, and Sueann Reeves of Galesburg; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life Luncheon on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Barry County Township Hall at 155 E. Orchard St., Delton, MI 49046 from 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Family is requesting a dish to pass and memorable stories you may have of Jerry. Thanks also to Baxter Funeral Home of Battle Creek MI for preparations.
