Obituary for James Bernard Williams

Our beloved James Bernard Williams came into the world on March 20, 1981.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia to James Arnez Knott and Ella Mae Williams, he was a
blessing from God.

Seeing James, you could always expect a huge, welcoming smile. To be in the
room with James, you would definitely experience his bright personality and
undeniable sense of humor. To be loved by James, you felt it from every angle.
Though he was born in Atlanta, he loved being from Kalamazoo. Wherever he
went, he properly represented his home city and state!

From as early as anyone can remember, he always loved fishing—and could
spend hours on the water, staying long enough to catch beautiful sunsets as he
collected enough fish to feed many.
He was a versatile child of God, and loved everything fashionable—from the
trendiest sneakers and clothes to the best music. He was always in tune with
culture and style.

A proud, “mama’s boy,” one of his favorite weekly activities was Sunday morning
coffee with his mother, Ella. He loved his family fiercely, with his mother as the
apple of his eye. His favorite Tupac song, Dear Mama was a testament to his
feelings about the unrelenting woman that raised him.

He left this world to be with our Lord and savior on April 12, 2023.
James was preceded in death by his uncles Floyd Banks and Richard Allen
Williams, and cousin, Daniel Redd.

He leaves to mourn his mother and father, his siblings: Alexander, Natasha,
Michael, Lucretia, James Montrease, Christopher, Travis, and Alsemaj; his nieces
and nephews: Alicia, Crystian, Nia, Sacha, Alexander Jr., Alijah, Anna, Alexa,
Michael Jr., and Justin. His beloved aunts and uncles: Ethel (Glenn) Chamblis,
Emma (Tommy) Session, Lauretta (Armond) Baskin, Rebecca Taylor, Grantford
Williams and Steve McDowell Williams also mourn his departure—as well as his
very special friend, Sheena McCants.

The family is eternally grateful for your love and support during this hard time. To
