Obituary for James "Jim" Thomas Byrd
James "Jim" T. Byrd, 95, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022 after living a good, long life!
Jim was born on March 29, 1927 to Rube and Barbara Byrd in Wilder, TN. Jim's family moved to Michigan in 1931. He went to Springfield Schools up until his senior year when he chose to leave school and join the United States Navy in 1944. Jim was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Jim was married to the love of his life, Marcelene for 55 years. He worked for Consumers Power from 1946 until his retirement in 1987. Jim took great joy in fishing, watching most sporting events and spending time with his family.
Jim was preceded in death by his "sweetie" Marcelene; sister, Leona Connolly; brother, Duane Byrd, and his favorite son-in-law, John R!
Jim is survived by his son, David (Wendy); daughter, Charlotte (Rick); granddaughters, Christi (Alan), Patti (Mike); great grandchildren, Macie, Reese (Neely), Riley, Makenna, Aaden and Addisyn.
Per Jim's request there will be no funeral services since he said he would have outlived anyone who would have come to his funeral!
Jim was greatly loved by all of us and he will be missed.
