Obituary for James Lawrence Klipfer

James "Jim" Lawrence Klipfer, 54, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Jim was born on June 17, 1967 in Marshall, MI, the son of Lawrence Nelson Klipfer and Jacqueline Harriet (Chapman) Klipfer.

Jim lived most of his life in the Battle Creek area. He was a graduate of Battle Creek High School, Class of 1985. He followed in his Dad's footsteps and proudly joined and served in the United States Navy, becoming a Navy Corpsman. He served in the Mediterranean on the USS Guadalcanal (helicopter). After coming home he graduated from Kellogg Community College and also Siena Heights College, earning his BA and receiving three degrees in Electronics. He was currently employed at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek as the Senior Purchasing Agent for the Prosthetics Department. He was also the co-owner of Hometown Hobby from 2003-2007.

He is survived by his daughters, Brenna Klipfer and Micala (Ethan) Torres; son, Ethan (Madie) Klipfer; grandson, Julian Torres; brother, John (Christine) Klipfer, his only niece, Leah Klipfer; favorite aunt, Ginny (James) Thompke and cousin, Justin Thompke. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nelson and Dorothy (Burnham) Klipfer, James and Jeannette (Stealy) Chapman and cousin, Jeremy James Thompke.

Jim loved fishing, camping, watching football, playing disc golf and playing board games, he also was an avid collector of most board games. He was also active in Ninjutsu earning his Second Degree Black Belt.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service.

His memorial at Fort Custer National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
