James Earl Robinson Sr., also known as "JR" and "Jimmy", passed away on April 3, 2021 with family at his side. He was born on September 12, 1941 in Albion, MI to the late Thomas and Ethel (Hunter) Robinson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Raymond, sisters, Mamie Newton and Geraldine Lafayette. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolyn D. Robinson (Battle Creek, MI), children, James E. Robinson II (Kalamazoo, MI), Priscilla Robinson Taylor (McKinney, TX), Pamela D. Moore (Columbia, SC) and Kenyon (Michelle) R. Murray (Cedar Rapids, IA), siblings, Joseph Robinson, Edwina Robinson and Eleanor Cochran (all of Battle Creek, MI), 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and a large extended family who will all miss him dearly.
James retired from NATO Cataloging after 25 years of government service as a Supply Analyst and proudly served his country in the US Army. He graduated from Battle Creek Central HS and the University of South Carolina with a BS in Criminal Justice. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, the History Channel, Jeopardy and the Price Is Right. Golf was his passion until his health intervened. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching major sports at any time of the day.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
*Following current state restrictions, 25 visitors will be allowed in the funeral home at a time, and face masks are required*
A private interment with full military honors will occur on April 12th at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
